These models provide a tactile and visual-learning approach to difficult concepts.
- Seventeen Models
- Earth Science Teacher John Koonz Developed Models
- Simple Assembly
- Explanation Printed on Backs of Models
- Covered Subjects Include Botany, Topography, Plate Tectonics, and More
Geoblox reproducible block models supplement topics in Life and Earth Sciences and provide students with their own three-dimensional display of the structures discussed in class. These models are especially useful for students with tactile and visual learning styles and are easily assembled by middle and high school students. By seeing various landforms and biological structures in three-dimensions, students develop an understanding how they develop and function. Models can also be copied to a transparency and enlarged, creating an oversized model for permanent classroom display. Each page features a model complete with instructions for construction. Covered subjects include botany, topography, plate tectonics, geology, and oceanography.
The first nine of the 17 model patterns included in this set can be connected together to form a 45" long series of plate boundaries. Models include convergent continent-continent, transform, divergent ocean-ocean, convergent continent-ocean, continent hotspot, divergent continent-continent, passive, convergent ocean-ocean, ocean hotspot, paleomagnetic banding, convection current, pie slice of the Earth, hydrothermal vent, formation of the Himalayas (three stages), and Glomar Challenger. The set is comb bound and can be used as a copymaster to produce enough for your entire class. You can also enlarge the patterns to use them as demonstration models. Each model in this set has an explanation printed on the back.
NOTE: Models do not come preassembled. Students and educators are meant to use the patterns and instructions in the booklet to construct the models for educational purposes. Constructed models can then be used as a permanent classroom display.
Ordering information: Geoblox reproducible block models, developed by Earth Science teacher John Koonz, were designed to supplement topics in Life and Earth Sciences, providing each student with their own three-dimensional display of the structures and concepts most commonly discussed in class.
These models are especially useful for students with tactile and visual learning styles. Models are easily assembled by middle and high school students. Merely copy the detailed model plans onto cardstock and distribute them to your students. Students color the models, then cut them out using either scissors or X-acto knives. Tabs are folded along the dotted lines and glued into place. By seeing various landforms and biological structures in three-dimensions, students may have an easier time understanding how they develop and function.
