With the materials in this kit, students utilize two important methods of identifying bacteria. After observing basic characteristics of a colony, they Gram-stain the specimens, observe the reaction under a microscope, and determine what type of bacteria the specimens are by following the dichotomous key (included).

Ordering information: This kit includes a teacher’s guide, a student copymaster, and 10 freeze-dried cultures: B. megaterium, B. subtilis, E. coli, K. rhizophila, K. rosea, L. lactis, S. aurantiaca, S. marcescens, S. epidermidis, and S. violaceus.
