Mendel’s Law of Independent Assortment made easy.
Dihybrid crosses can be complex and abstract in nature, but this activity allows students to perform a cross that clearly demonstrates the properties of dominant and recessive alleles, genotypic and phenotypic ratios, independent assortment, and F1 and F2 inheritance patterns on just two Petri plates.
Before starting the experiment, students will predict the results of the cross. Next, they will perform the cross using simple microbiological techniques, and then analyze the results. You will get a teacher’s guide, student copymaster, and enough materials for six setups.
Kit Includes:
Sterile media and petri dishes required for performing crosses
Teacher's guide and student copymaster
Coupon redeemable for 8 different strains of yeast
