Samples of clean, intermediate, and highly polluted simulated lake water are included, but you can reuse the activity for years with local water samples. By using a simple and unique analysis technique, the Palmer Algal Genera Pollution Index, your class will see that as the amount of pollution in water increases, the number of algal species decreases.
