Build a miniature power generation system that converts wind into electrical energy.
- Three types of blades included
- LED module to demonstrate the power output
- Hands on lab activities, teacher's guide, student's guides included
- Topics covered: Renewable energy, angular velocity, classical and rotational mechanics, Ohm's law, power, and efficiency
Experiment with the pitch (angle setting) of turbine blades and find out the optimum number of blades for generating electricity. Nine blades, with three types of profiled blade based on NASA aeronautics and one type of poly-propylene sheet blade, provide the opportunity to find the perfect balance of wind resistance, weight and angle.
Arrange multiple wind kit turbines in series and parallel configurations in order to study the voltage, current, and power generated. Design a simulation of a commercial wind farm in model scale and learn the potential of wind power as a mass energy source.
Caution: This kit should only be used by persons 12 years old and up, and only under the supervision of adults who have familiarized themselves with the safety measures described in the kit. Keep small children and animals away, as it contains small parts that could be swallowed.
